Blood pressure medication
Since my Dr. has increased the dosage level of my blood pressure mediation, I have had little to no sex drive. I have been on it for 2 months now and I am missing my usual desire for sexual relations. What can I do to remedy this situation?
High blood pressure in itself can lead to decreased libido and difficulty getting and maintaining an erection (impotence.) Many of the medications used to treat high blood pressure can also decrease sex drive or cause sexual dysfunction. Which medication are you on? If you noticed the change in your sex drive at the time the medication was started or increased, then it is likely at least partially responsible for your decreased sex drive. Sexual dysfunction is more common with certain classes of medications, such as diuretics and beta blockers. Sometimes switching to another class of medications which is less likely to cause sexual dysfunction can help. Ace inhibitors (Lisinopril, Ramipril, etc.) are the least likely to be associated with sexual dysfunction. It is also important to rule out other causes for low sex drive, such as psychological causes or low testosterone. Discuss this with your doctor because he/she knows all the details of your medical history and treatment. Good luck.![]()

High Blood Pressure
I recently started taking medication for high blood pressure. My doctor prescribed a beta blocker and a diuretic. However, I am not tolerating the diuretic and was wondering what other types of medication would be effective in a combined therapy with a low dosage of a beta blocker.
You have two more options among the first line antihypertensive medications. Your doctor can either place you an an ACE inhibitor such as lisinopril, or a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker such as amlodipine. The choice depends on your other medical problems. For example, if you are a diabetic, lisinopril would be better for its kidney protection effects; if you like to excercise a lot, amlodipine would be better since it does not bottom out the blood pressure during excercise, etc. What you should avoid is non-dydropyridine calcium channel blockers such as diltiazem, which tend to slow down the heart and, combined with the beta blocker, could lead to the heart rate that is too slow.

Lower your Blood pressure
I hate to use prescription meds. I just don’t trust them not to cause other problems.
What food or natural remedies can I use to lower my moderately high blood pressure?
Besides a reduced salt intake and plenty of exercise other natural remedies include fish oil, garlic oil, Hawthorn, Coenzyme Q10 and others that you can find in a web search for "high blood pressure" + "natural remedies". Each remedy helps a bit and you may have to take several.

If you have more than 3 of these Symptoms please see your Doctor and ask for a refferal to see a Neurologist (study’s the brain) or ophthalmologist (who will be able to look into your eyes and see the pressure on your optic nerves). The only way that IH can be ditected is from a lumber Puncture the needle in your spine is hooked up to a tube and is held vertical and the pressuse from the fluid will rise the fluid up the tube giving you a pressure reading. normal is 5-10 my first reading was 28 (3 times normal levels) and has been as high as 48.
If your doctor is not aware of this disease and is dismissing your symptoms see another Dr.. this is your body and you must take charge of it.
