Blood pressure medication
I’ve just found out I have severe hypertension and I’d like to know how many years my life expectancy is. I will take my meds and adjust my diet and habits but, even if I do this, how many years do I have? I’m extremely afraid and been crying my heart out.
My Grandpa is 85 and has been on blood pressure medication since his 30’s.

Blood pressure medication
Since my Dr. has increased the dosage level of my blood pressure mediation, I have had little to no sex drive. I have been on it for 2 months now and I am missing my usual desire for sexual relations. What can I do to remedy this situation?
High blood pressure in itself can lead to decreased libido and difficulty getting and maintaining an erection (impotence.) Many of the medications used to treat high blood pressure can also decrease sex drive or cause sexual dysfunction. Which medication are you on? If you noticed the change in your sex drive at the time the medication was started or increased, then it is likely at least partially responsible for your decreased sex drive. Sexual dysfunction is more common with certain classes of medications, such as diuretics and beta blockers. Sometimes switching to another class of medications which is less likely to cause sexual dysfunction can help. Ace inhibitors (Lisinopril, Ramipril, etc.) are the least likely to be associated with sexual dysfunction. It is also important to rule out other causes for low sex drive, such as psychological causes or low testosterone. Discuss this with your doctor because he/she knows all the details of your medical history and treatment. Good luck.
