The last time I ate a banana was in 1959. I spent two weeks in the hospital, 7 days NPO while my gut healed. I still have problems even touching unpeeled bananas. Other high potassium foods include green tea, Green lima beans, peaches, plums and apricots. One food is not a cure all and sometimes it can be a killer.

I make banana/coconut pancakes for breakfast, I use rice flour, rice milk and real maple syrup, season with ground cinnamon, fresh grated lemon peel and a pinch of nutmeg. I cook them in a little bit of extra virgin, organic coconut oil. Quite decadent but still healthy and low fat. (the healthy kind) sooo yummy!

My problem is unique in that I have high blood pressure, but have to monitor my potassium very closely, as it runs either too high or too low! I have had to give up food with high potassium, as I take medication to retain potassium. My potassium totally depletes if I don’t medicate to retain it. Has anyone else ran into that problem?

I found that putting bananas in the refridgerator WITHOUT THE GREEN BAG keeps them just as long- I prefer mine alittle green so I do it every time I buy bananas….and yes, the peel will turn black!

Good idea but not if you don’t like the food they talk about, it only works if you will eat it. When I was little grandpa ate real dark bananas and now the smell gags me, I can only eat it when its really green and just slightly yellow when you can first peel them or the smell makes me throw up. I use this blue salt shaker in my house its like 50% less sodium salt and it tastes the same. Its made with real salt and potassium chloride instead of sprinkling on real salt. And I never buy low sodium alternative foods because they just use less salt and the food never gets that flavor like it would if soaked in something salty, I find myself putting on much much more salt than the regular version and I still am not happy with the taste because its not salty enough.
