Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is a surgical procedure used to correct carotid stenosis (narrowing of the carotid artery lumen by atheroma), used particularly when this causes medical problems, such as transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) or cerebrovascular accidents (CVAs, strokes). Endarterectomy is the removal of material on the inside (end-) of an artery. Angioplasty and stenting of the carotid artery are undergoing investigation as alternatives to carotid endarterectomy.

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Stroke

An elderly gentalmen has just suffered a stroke. He is able to understand verbal and written language, but when he tries to respond, his words are garbled.

This is Broca’s aphasia (expressive aphasia) secondary to a lesion in Broca’s region, which is located in the left inferior frontal gyrus corresponding to Brodmann area 44 and 45.

What are the chances of a person dying from a stroke when they are receiving heparin in a hospital?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Stroke

There had been small stroke about a month prior to the hospitalization.

It depends on the type of stroke.
If it is due to a clot in the vessels heparin will help. It is not a guarantee that the person will not have another stroke but it will surely decrease the chances of it.
On the other hand, if the strokes were due to a break or leakage in the vessels. Adding heparin would most definitely increase them. It would cause the body to be unable to clot off the leak and more blood would leak into the brain therefore causing more strokes.
I am sure the doctors know which type this person has though. A CT scan of the brain would be able to tell them.

I just reread your question and realized it didn’t ask about subsequent strokes. It asked about death.
If the person had an anuerism (such as a AAA) somewhere else in the body that was undetected heparin would be a death sentence. There is also the unlikely chance the person is allergic to it as well as a possible overdose. These are all unlikely though.
I would say the chances are slim but it is a possibility.

How can i develop a 3 pointer stroke and soft touch?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Stroke

I really am a mid range guy but i want to become a perimeter shooter.I want to develop a three pointer stroke. Sometimes when i shoot the three, my right hand gets involved (im lefty). I want to change that. Also it goes short or it goes too left or too right. I just want to know some ways to develop a consistent three point stroke and a soft touch.

Hey what’s up dude, I feel you on that. I played two guard and I’m a left hand. it sounds like you don’t have the control of the ball when you releasing the ball. my advice is to start praticing shooting the ball with your left hand.. and try to keep your right hand from getitng invovled. YOu need to attend a basketball camp or seek a coach that will show you how to shoot the ball the right way.

Now.. let me tell you how i became a better 3 point shooter. I praticed everyday.. for three hours. I made sure i hit 200 shots everyday from outside… You need to learn how to relax and shoot under pressure and stuff like that.

What foods are good for someone in risk of a stroke?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Stroke

My mom suffers of cholesterol and is in risk of having diabetes, today she had chest pains and felt really weak. We already made an appointment to see a doctor.

In the meantime I wanted to know what is healthy for her to eat right now, so she can eat in the meantime, because she is afraid of eating anything that will cause her a stroke or anything similar.

Please if you have suggestions, i would greatly appreciate them. Thanks in advance.

Boil some hair of corn and let her drink the water

Give her turmeric one tea spoon twice a day

What would typically be the problem of a 2 stroke scooter that dies when the throttle is applied?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Stroke

The scooter idols just fine and will maintain a good idol but when the gas is applied it often times dies. It is sometime a little hard to start as well. It has a 2 stroke engine.

There should be 2 jets in you carburator one is for idle the other is for exceleration. Typically these get filled with gunk and your motor will not get any fuel. You have to pull the carbs apart and clean them out. If your not experienced i suggest a mechanic. They do sell fuel system cleaner but that doesnt always work but give it a try. This is common when motorcycles/scooters sit for a few months. I hoped this helped ya.
