what are some tips to reduce high blood pressure?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: High Blood Pressure

I have just found out that my blood pressure is now very high… the doc hasn’t put me on meds for it yet but he said that if I am unable to get it down soon I will have to…

I am wanting to know (other then diet change and weight loss)

what are some other ways to help with reducing blood pressure?

Well, as you mentioned, weight loss and diet change are the main ways (cutting down on sodium can be a BIG help), but also try reducing stress. Watch what medications you are taking, as some can raise blood pressure

Also, are you getting your pressure taken at the doctor’s office? If you are, try getting a home monitor and taking it at home at least once a day for a week or so. Some people get stressed out at the doctor’s, so it skyrockets, but may be normal at other times.

Exercise (but you’ll need to talk to your Doc again before starting)

    Meditation (see: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/03/080314130430.htm )

Quit smoking and don’t drink alcohol (I don’t know if you smoke or drink, but if you do then this will help)

    Good luck & much hope
