Can you join the army while having hypertension?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Hypertension

I am considering joining the armed forces. Preferably the marines or something of that nature. I suffer from genetic hypertension. I am just wondering if it is possible for somebody like me is able to join the army with this condition. I take daily medication to solve my high blood pressure.

In Accordance With DoD instruction 6130.4 you are permanately disqualified.

sorry.

Yes, you can join the military with hypertension…well the ARMY at least!!! I joined the army 6 yrs. ago with severe hypertension and I’m still in the Army. So, as far as I know regulation hasn’t changed! You may have to get a waiver from the doctor though which shouldn’t be too hard.

yeah you can join the army. However, I knew a soldier who was actually discharged from the service for having it severely so take your medication as prescribed and eat healthy.

yes, but keep it between you and your recruiter, dont let the guys at MEPS know or they’ll disqualify you. Dont be intimidated wen they tell you that they’ll send you to jail or that they can bring up your medical history, because they CAN’T and won’t because that is illegal. Your medical history is open to nobody but you and your doctor. Just take it easy, and take your medication until you feel that you dont need it anymore.
