What is the best swimming stroke to tone your whole body?
I was wondering if anyone knows the best swimming stroke for whole body toning? I usually do breast stroke… should I continue to do this? I haven’t been swimming properly for months and have just started going again. I want to tone up my stomach, bum and legs (thighs in particular) mostly, obviously it will tone my arms and legs anyway… What stroke(s) do you think I should do – I CANNOT do butterfly by the way before you suggest that. Thanks.

Well different strokes potentionally tone different parts of your body. I would try adding in different strokes, some easier, some harder, such as the freestroke/front crawl, whatever you want to call it. That is one of the toughest ones to continue doing. Also try sidestroke, that might help toning your stomache. I’d research diffrerent strokes on the internet to see what else you can add.

well, swimming alone will not tone your body, i recommend doing cardiovascular exercise in the following way: 4 Min’s jogging followed by 8 sprints the duration of each is 20 seconds.these sprints are intercepted by 10 seconds rest. i mean 20 seconds sprint followed by 10 seconds rest and so on till the total 8 sprints are obtained.these are followed by 4 minutes jogging ..and that’s it . this is only 12 Min’s of discomfort. i recommend doing this early in the morning on an empty stomach 3 times weekly for 2 months ..you will see the result from the first week..

I know you said not to mention it, but anyway…
The Butterfly…
LOL, sorry.. it’s just that it tones the body great, look at Phelps!
Now, you’re a girl so if you wanna get in shape I can suggest you o try another sport because swwiming is gonna get your back really wide.
If you prefer cntinue swimming I can suggest you all strokes at different times and please TRY THE BUTTERFLY…
Add cardiovascular excercise and some lifting along with a balanced diet…
Remember
No pain, no gain… therefore… beauty hurts…
But you will look great! and everybody will ask you to go out…

Butterfly
as an old swimmer i still have ma nice toned swimmer body. My speacialty was Butterfly, it takes alot of strength in ur arm muscles for that stroke, and the squeezed together leg effect makes the legs toned, beacuse of course, the kicks is going to be powerful enough to match the arms.
