What is the differnce between 2 stroke and 4 stroke oil?
Posted by: admin : Category: Stroke
I know they are intended for different vechiles etc but I wanna know how to tell them apart.
For example if i gave you a glass of each how could you tell that which one is the 2 stroke?
2 stroke oil is made to combinded with the fuel.
4 stroke oil is made to be added to oil pan.
both reduce friction & wear .
4 stroke — pumped through engine
2 stroke— burned in combustion process – has low ash
additive to reduce carbon buildup on piston & valves
2stroke oil is much thinner than 4 stroke oil — to put it simple
hope this help.

When you drink the 2 stroke oil,
it will always give you hiccups.
However most people read the label on the bottle it came in.

Most good two stroke oil is blue in color, but two stroke is a lot thinner also.

Yeah! STROKE! STROKE!!!
Like the guy above me said= if you drink the 2 stroke oil, you will have 2 strokes. If you drink the 4 stroke oil, you will have 4 strokes.
The difference between them is 2 strokes.

most of the two stroke oil I’ve seen is tinted blue, red or even purple. I don’t have problems telling if it’s 2 stroke or four stroke I have trouble telling if it’s 2 stroke or tranny / power steering fluid.

Without doing a chemical analysis on them, you might have a hard time telling which is which. Like the other person said, read the lable on the bottle.
One thing that might help if you do tend to store your oil in drinking glasses – 2 stroke oil usually has a dye added (dark blue or green) which is intended to help identify oil in the petrol when its mixed for used in a 2 stroke engine. Most 4 stroke oil doesn’t have this dye, or if it does, it will be purple or red. This doesn’t always apply, however.

Two stroke oil, which is designed to mix with fuel, is noticeably thinner than 4 stroke oil, which isn’t. Very like automatic transmission fluid in fact, as already said, but NOT interchangeable!

2 stroke oil have to be (recommendation) of vegetable origin because this oil have duty (job) to grease complete system, means cylinder, bearing (support) of the piston and piston handle (I don’t know thechnician term for this part of engine) and bearing of the piston handle and crankshaft and because of this taht oil have to be without mineral fragments. The best oil for this purpose is Castrol. 4 stroke oil could be and of mineral origin because he have to grease only crankshaft. Veradisca & Best Regards, Neven.

2 stroke burns up a lot easier than 4 stroke as a 2 stroke engine is designed to burn an oil/petrol mix. The only difference I ever notice was that 2-stroke oil have a slight green tint 4-stroke looks more golden coloured

for example firstly they are different in colour, secondly they vary in viscosity and thirdly they are graded by different levels of refinement.
further to this the afore mentioned oils are for two stroke and four stroke engines respectively as they do not run the two stroke and four stroke cycles by oil
